Sukta 2
इदमिद् वा उ नापरं दिवि पश्यसि सूर्यम्। माता पुत्रं यथा सिचाभ्येऽनं भूम ऊर्णुहि
idám íd vā́ u ná̄param diví páśyasi sū́ryam | mātā́ putráṃ yáthā sicā́bhy-ènāṃ bhū́me ūrṇuhi
This verily is it: thou seest no other thing in heaven than the Sun. As a mother her son with the skirt (of her robe), so, O Earth, cover thou this man over.
यही निश्चय है: स्वर्ग में तू सूर्य के सिवा और कुछ नहीं देखता। जैसे माता अपने पुत्र को अपने आँचल से ढाँक लेती है, वैसे ही, हे पृथ्वी, इस मनुष्य को ढँक ले।
