ऊर्ध्वः सुप्तेषु जागार ननु तिर्यङ् नि पद्यते । न सुप्तमस्य सुप्तेष्वनु शुश्राव कश्चन
ūrdhváḥ súpteṣu jāgāra nánu tiryáṅ ní padyate | ná súptam asyá súpteṣv ánu śuśrāva káścana
Upright he waketh among the sleepers; surely he sinketh not down awry. None, when all are sleeping, hath ever heard that he sleepeth.
जो ऊर्ध्व (सीधा) है, वह सोए हुओं के बीच भी जागता रहता है; निश्चय ही वह तिरछा होकर नीचे नहीं गिरता। जब सब सो रहे हों, तब किसी ने भी यह नहीं सुना कि वह सोता है।
