Caturthī-vratāni (Vows of the Fourth Lunar Day)
भगवान अग्नि चतुर्थी-आधारित व्रतों का क्रमबद्ध वर्णन करते हैं और बताते हैं कि ये भुक्ति और मुक्ति—दोनों फल देने वाले साधन हैं। आरम्भ में पाठ/पाण्डुलिपि-भेद का संकेत है, फिर मास और तिथि के अनुसार विधियाँ आती हैं। माघ शुक्ल चतुर्थी को उपवास व पूजन, जिसमें देव के ‘गुण’ को पूज्य-केन्द्र माना गया है। पंचमी तक तिल-भात का नैवेद्य देकर वर्षभर निर्विघ्न कल्याण की कामना, ‘गं स्वाहा’ मूल-मंत्र तथा ‘गाम्’ आदि से हृदय-आदि अङ्ग-न्यास बताया गया है। ‘आगच्छ उल्का’ से आवाहन और ‘गच्छ उल्का’ से विसर्जन, गुग्गुलु-सुगन्ध व मोदक-नैवेद्य, तथा गणेश-गायत्री-प्राय अतिरिक्त मंत्र भी दिया है। अंत में भाद्रपद चतुर्थी का कृच्छ्र, फाल्गुन चतुर्थी की रात्रि-उपवास ‘अविघ्ना’, और चैत्र चतुर्थी में दमन/दूर्वा से गण-पूजा—इन विशेष व्रतों को शुभता व शुद्धि की विधि के रूप में स्थापित किया गया है।
