FAQs

It imparts nimitta-vidyā (prognostics): certain inner states and outcomes are read as signs of impending failure—fruitless initiatives, unexplained decline, impediments to marriage, and lack of progeny.

By treating practical life-domains—success in ventures, social institutions like marriage, and fertility—through the lens of nimitta/śakuna, it exemplifies how the Agni Purāṇa compiles applied knowledge alongside theology and ritual.

The verse frames repeated failure and obstruction (including marital and progeny-related outcomes) as meaningful indicators prompting self-correction—purifying conduct, restoring auspiciousness, and addressing adverse karma before proceeding.
