FAQs

It gives Ayurvedic/veterinary technical classifications of a cow’s reproductive and lactational status (post-calving, newly calved, in heat/impregnated, mounted, barren, miscarriage), used for diagnosis and management in pashu-chikitsa.

Beyond theology, it preserves applied knowledge—animal husbandry and veterinary diagnostics—showing the Agni Purana’s coverage of practical sciences (Ayurveda) alongside ritual and mythic material.

By enabling proper care and protection of cows—traditionally a dharmic duty—the instruction supports merit (puṇya) through compassionate maintenance of livestock and avoidance of harm to pregnant animals.
