FAQs

It gives practical vṛkṣāropaṇa guidance: irrigate planted trees during the rains and whenever the soil dries, and maintain measured spacing—20 hastas for optimal growth and 16 hastas as a moderate standard.

Beyond theology, it preserves applied standards of land-care—irrigation timing and calibrated planting distances—showing the Purāṇa as a manual of civil, environmental, and household management alongside ritual topics.

Tree-planting and sustaining growth through proper watering is treated as dharmic public welfare; careful maintenance (not merely planting) supports puṇya by benefiting living beings through shade, fruit, and ecological stability.
