Skanda
Tirtha: Kāśī
Type: kshetra
Scene: A pilgrim accepts rich foods (honey, jaggery, vegetables, ghee) from someone’s hand; later, realizing the impropriety, he sits in quiet fasting near a ghat with a water-pot, practicing restraint.
Food is a dharmic act; improper acceptance can be purified through restraint and a brief fast.
Kāśī is the contextual sacred landscape where purity rules and expiations are emphasized.
A one-day fast (abhojana) is prescribed in relation to eating certain items received ‘by hand’ in a censured manner/context.
