etadākhyānakaṃ puṇyaṃ dharmeṇa kathitaṃ purā | yaḥ śṛṇoti naro bhaktyā nārī vā śrāvayettu yaḥ | gosahasraphalaṃ tasya aṃte haripuraṃ brajet
Narratorial voice (Phalaśruti; implicit)
Tirtha: Dharmāraṇya (implied narrative frame)
Type: kshetra
Listener: General audience (men and women); within frame likely Yudhiṣṭhira/assembly
Scene: A dharma-assembly where a narrator recites a sacred account; men and women listen with folded hands; a symbolic thousand-cow gift is implied; a radiant path or lotus-gate to Hari’s abode appears in the background.
Devotional listening and sharing of dharmic sacred history itself becomes a potent act of merit, comparable to great charity.
The verse functions as a general phalaśruti for the Dharmāraṇya narrative rather than naming a single tirtha; it affirms the māhātmya of Dharmāraṇya as a sacred context.
Śravaṇa (hearing) and śrāvaṇa (causing recitation) with bhakti are prescribed; the merit is likened to go-dāna (donation of cows).
