FAQs

It affirms Śakti (Umā/Parameśvarī) as the divine power through whom the cosmos undergoes sṛṣṭi (creation), sthiti (maintenance), and saṁhāra (dissolution). In Shaiva Siddhanta, this highlights that the Lord’s grace and governance manifest through Śiva’s inseparable energy, guiding souls toward liberation.

Linga worship honors Śiva as the transcendent Pati, while this verse clarifies that the observable functions of the universe operate through His Śakti as Parameśvarī. Thus, Saguna worship reveres Śiva-Śakti together—Śiva as the Lord and Śakti as the dynamic power by which devotees experience protection, transformation, and eventual release.

A practical takeaway is to meditate on Śiva-Śakti unity: chant the Pañcākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") while contemplating that all arising and dissolving thoughts are governed by the divine power. If performing pūjā, offer bilva leaves and apply tripuṇḍra (bhasma) with the intent of surrendering the three guṇas to the Supreme.
