Enumeration of the Manvantaras and Manus
ब्रह्मणस्तु सुतास्ते हि त इमे वैधृताः स्मृताः । सर्वगश्च सुशर्म्मा च देवानीकस्तु क्षेमकः
brahmaṇastu sutāste hi ta ime vaidhṛtāḥ smṛtāḥ | sarvagaśca suśarmmā ca devānīkastu kṣemakaḥ
એ તો નિશ્ચયે બ્રહ્માના પુત્રો છે; તેઓ ‘વૈધૃત’ તરીકે સ્મરાય છે—સર્વગ, સુશર્મા, દેવાનીક અને ક્ષેમક॥

Tattva Level: pashu
The verse preserves sacred lineage-memory (smṛti) within the Purāṇic narrative, showing how cosmic order is transmitted through named progenitors—yet, in Shaiva Siddhanta, such lineages remain within the realm of pashu (bound souls) and creation, ultimately pointing beyond genealogy to refuge in Pati (Śiva).
While the verse itself is genealogical, Uma Saṃhitā commonly uses such accounts to situate worldly creation under higher divine governance; Saguna Śiva (worshipped as Liṅga) is the supreme Lord who transcends Brahmā’s created lineages and grants liberation beyond the created order.
No direct ritual is prescribed in this line; the practical takeaway is to pair scriptural study (śravaṇa) with steady japa of the Pañcākṣarī—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—to move from mere knowledge of creation to devotion and inward realization.
