Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu

Sthala Purana: General doctrine: listeners and kīrtana-performers of Śiva’s satkīrti become ‘tīrthas’ themselves—sanctifying others like the dust of the Lord’s lotus feet.
Significance: Establishes the saint-devotee as a living pilgrimage site; satsanga becomes a portable tīrtha where Śiva’s grace is mediated socially.
Type: stotra
Role: nurturing
Offering: pushpa
It teaches that śravaṇa (hearing) and kīrtana (praising) of Śiva’s sacred fame transform a person into a ‘living tīrtha’—a purifier for oneself and others—because devotion aligns the bound soul (paśu) with Pati (Śiva) and loosens the bonds (pāśa) of impurity.
Śiva’s fame and name are treated as direct, accessible supports of Saguna worship—like approaching the Liṅga with devotion. Hearing and chanting function as devotional contact with Śiva’s presence, comparable to receiving sanctity from the ‘dust of the lotus-feet’.
Regularly listen to Śiva-kathā and perform kīrtana/japa of Śiva’s names (especially the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), particularly on auspicious days like Mahāśivarātri, cultivating purity and devotional steadiness.
