Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga narrative; it emphasizes Vedic-śrauta/smārta propriety—Himavat (the wise one) performs rites according to Śruti using self-earned wealth.
Significance: Models dharmic household conduct: righteous earning and Veda-aligned rites as preparatory purity (śuddhi) supporting higher devotion to Śiva-Śakti.
Offering: naivedya
It emphasizes that righteous action (kriyā) should be performed with inner purity and joy, supported by honest means, and aligned with Śruti—so that worship and dharma become inwardly transforming rather than merely external.
By stating that rites must follow Śruti and be done “yathocita,” it supports disciplined Saguna worship—such as Linga-pūjā—performed with correct method, sincere mind, and dharmic resources, which Shaiva tradition treats as a purifier leading toward Shiva’s grace.
The takeaway is to perform Shiva-oriented rites according to scriptural rule and capacity—e.g., orderly pūjā with mantra-japa (such as the Panchakshara, Om Namaḥ Śivāya) using pure intention and rightly acquired offerings.
