Lord Shiva (instructing Parvati on strīdharma and household conduct)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
It frames self-restraint and affectionate devotion as a form of dharma within household life—disciplining desire so that love becomes a sattvic support for devotion rather than a binding impulse (pāśa).
In Shaiva practice, disciplined conduct purifies the mind for Saguna Shiva-upāsanā (such as Linga worship). Restraint and harmony in the home reduce agitation, making japa and pūjā steadier and more fruitful.
The verse implies brahmacarya-like restraint outside the proper marital context; a practical takeaway is to support that restraint with daily Panchākṣarī japa ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") and simple Linga pūjā to stabilize the mind.
