Suta Goswami (traditional Purāṇic colophon marker concluding the chapter narration to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
Sthala Purana: This is the adhyāya-colophon (iti… adhyāyaḥ) marking the close of the chapter on Śiva’s festive entry into Himagiri’s inner palace; it functions as textual framing rather than narrative theology.
Significance: Colophons are recited to mark completion (pāraṇa/saṃpūrti) and to sacralize the hearing (śravaṇa) of the Purāṇa as a meritorious act.
This is a chapter-colophon that seals the narration, emphasizing the auspiciousness (śrī) of Śiva’s līlā—His celebrated entry into Himagiri’s inner palace—highlighting how devotion expresses itself through sacred hospitality and festival observance.
While not a direct linga-instruction, it frames Saguna Śiva in narrative form—Śiva as the personal Lord who is welcomed, honored, and celebrated—encouraging devotees to approach Śiva with reverence expressed through pūjā, utsava, and bhakti.
The verse implies an utsava-bhāva (festival devotion): welcoming Śiva inwardly through mantra-japa (e.g., Om Namaḥ Śivāya), offering worship with purity and reverence, and cultivating the attitude of receiving the Lord in one’s own “inner house” (heart).
