Devas’ Hymn, Nandikeśvara’s Petition, and Śiva’s Rising from Samādhi
nāsti yadyapi me kācidvihārakaraṇe ruciḥ | vivāhayiṣye girijā putrotpādanahetave
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: creative
It shows Shiva’s supreme vairāgya (dispassion): he is not driven by pleasure, yet he accepts a worldly role out of divine intention—upholding cosmic order and enabling a destined progeny for the good of beings.
As Nirguṇa beyond desire, Shiva remains untouched; as Saguṇa, he performs līlā—marriage and household life—so devotees can relate to him and learn that dharma can be fulfilled without bondage when anchored in the Lord.
Cultivate Shiva-like detachment while acting in duty: worship with the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” offering actions to Shiva inwardly as niṣkāma-sevā (desireless service).
