कामदाहोत्तरवृत्तान्तः / Aftermath of Kāma’s Burning
Pārvatī’s Fear and Himavān’s Consolation
शिवोवाच । त्वं तु सर्वज्ञ जगतामुपकारकर प्रभो । रुद्रस्याराधनार्थाय मंत्रं देहि मुने हि मे
śivovāca | tvaṃ tu sarvajña jagatāmupakārakara prabho | rudrasyārādhanārthāya maṃtraṃ dehi mune hi me
શિવે કહ્યું—હે પ્રભુ, તમે સર્વજ્ઞ અને જગતના ઉપકારક છો. તેથી હે મુને, રુદ્રની આરાધના માટે મને મંત્ર આપો.
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
The verse highlights that even the Lord models humility and the proper path of upāsanā: worship is to be approached through authorized mantra received from a competent knower, emphasizing disciplined devotion as a means to grace.
Rudra’s worship in the Purāṇic context is commonly performed as Saguna upāsanā—often centered on the Śiva-liṅga—where mantra, offering, and contemplation unite the devotee’s mind with the manifest form of Śiva for purification and divine favor.
The direct takeaway is mantra-upadeśa (receiving and practicing a mantra) for Rudra-ārādhanā—implying japa and focused meditation; in Shiva Purana practice this is typically supported by śuddhi, offerings, and Shaiva marks like bhasma and rudrākṣa where applicable.
