Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Paśupatinātha
Significance: Highlights bhakti across varṇa/social roles: a Vaiśya devotee attains proximity through inner worship—important Purāṇic message for broad pilgrimage communities.
Role: nurturing
It highlights that true Śiva-bhakti is defined by inner absorption (dhyāna) and sincere worship, not merely by social status—devotion performed with a focused mind becomes a direct means to receive Śiva’s grace.
By stating that Supriya performed Śiva-pūjā while meditating, the verse supports Saguna worship (such as Liṅga-pūjā) empowered by inner contemplation—outer ritual gains depth when united with mental worship and remembrance of Śiva.
Mānasa-pūjā (mental worship) and dhyāna are implied: mentally offering reverence to Śiva while keeping the mind fixed on Him; this can be accompanied by japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” as a practical discipline.
