Agni Jātavedas
આ ટૂંકું સૂક્ત જાતવેદસ અગ્નિને આવાહન કરે છે. તેની “અશ્વ” (તેની ઝડપી, અસરકારક શક્તિ) આવીને તૈયાર કરેલા બર્હિસ પર—પવિત્ર યજ્ઞભૂમિ પર—આસન ગ્રહણ કરે, એમ તે પ્રેરણા આપે છે. પછી કવિ ઉદાર દાતા અગ્નિ માટે સુગઠિત સ્તુતિ ઊભી કરે છે; અને અંતે, દેવો સુધી અર્પણો પહોંચાડતા અગ્નિના તેજસ્વી કિરણો યજ્ઞને ગતિ આપી તેને સફળતાપૂર્વક પૂર્ણ કરે, એવી પ્રાર્થના કરે છે.

Mantra 1
प्र नूनं जातवेदसमश्वं हिनोत वाजिनम् । इदं नो बर्हिरासदे ॥
હવે જાતવેદસના વાજિન અશ્વને આગળ ધપાવો; તે આ અમારા બર્હિ—પવિત્ર આસન—પર આવી બેસે.
Mantra 2
अस्य प्र जातवेदसो विप्रवीरस्य मीळ्हुषः । महीमियर्मि सुष्टुतिम् ॥
આ જાતવેદસને—વિપ્રવીર, ઉદાર દાતા—હું મહાન અને સુસંયોજિત સ્તુતિ ઊંચે ઉઠાવું છું.
Mantra 3
या रुचो जातवेदसो देवत्रा हव्यवाहनीः । ताभिर्नो यज्ञमिन्वतु ॥
યા જાતવેદસ (અગ્નિ)ની કિરણો દેવ તરફ હવ્ય વહન કરે છે—તે કિરણો દ્વારા તે અમારા યજ્ઞને પ્રેરિત કરે અને તેને પૂર્ણતા સુધી દોરી જાય.
