Sukta 1.53
न्यू षु वाचं प्र महे भरामहे गिर इन्द्राय सदने विवस्वतः । नू चिद्धि रत्नं ससतामिवाविदन्न दुःष्टुतिर्द्रविणोदेषु शस्यते ॥
nyù̄ ṣú vā́caṃ prá mahé bharāmahe gíra índrāya sádane vivásvataḥ | nū́ ciddhí rátnaṃ sasatā́m ivā́vidan ná duḥ-stutír dráviṇo-deṣú śasyate ||
હવે તો અમે મહાન માટે નવી વાણી આગળ ધરીએ છીએ—વિવસ્વતના સદનમાં ઇન્દ્ર માટે ગીરો (સ્તુતિગીતો). કારણ કે આજેય રત્ન (ધન/કૃપા) પ્રયત્નશીલોએ જેમ શોધી કાઢે તેમ પ્રાપ્ત થાય છે; અને દ્રવિણોદ (સમૃદ્ધિ આપનાર)માં દુષ્ટુતિ—કુસ્તુતિ—કદી પ્રશંસાતી નથી.
