Yamavākya
The Words of Yama
so'haṃ nirāśo bhuvi hīnakarmā tavāgataḥ pādasarojayugmam | vijñapti mātrābhayadāptikālaṃ kuruṣva sargasthitināśahetoḥ || 26 ||
A devotee/supplicant addressing Vishnu (Hari) in prayer
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: karuna
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It expresses śaraṇāgati—admitting one’s lack of merit and taking refuge at Vishnu’s lotus-feet—seeking abhaya (fearlessness) from the Lord who governs creation, maintenance, and dissolution.
Bhakti here is shown as humble approach and heartfelt prayer: even “mere supplication” (vijñapti-mātra) offered at the Lord’s feet is presented as a direct means to divine protection and inner fearlessness.
No specific Vedāṅga technique is taught in this verse; the practical takeaway is devotional discipline—using stuti and prayerful petition as a sādhana aligned with Purāṇic bhakti practice.
