Prabodhinī Ekādaśī, Kārtika-vrata, and Satya-dharma
मुक्त्वैकं ब्राह्मणं लोके नोक्तं शूद्रविशोरपि । दानं हि पालनं युद्धं तृतीयं भूभुजां स्मृतम् ॥ २ ॥
muktvaikaṃ brāhmaṇaṃ loke noktaṃ śūdraviśorapi | dānaṃ hi pālanaṃ yuddhaṃ tṛtīyaṃ bhūbhujāṃ smṛtam || 2 ||
આ લોકમાં બ્રાહ્મણને છોડીને શૂદ્ર અને વૈશ્ય માટે (વિશેષ) કર્તવ્ય કહેવાયું નથી. પરંતુ રાજાઓ માટે દાન, પાલન (પ્રજારક્ષણ) અને યુદ્ધ—આ ત્રણ કર્તવ્યો સ્મૃત છે.
