Adhyaya 90 — The Slaying of Shumbha and the Reabsorption of the Goddesses into Ambika
chinne dhanuṣi daityendras tathā śaktim athādade / ciccheda devī cakreṇa tām apy asya kare sthitām
Escalation of force by adharma does not guarantee victory; the higher power of righteousness meets every new tactic with appropriate mastery.
Carita embedded in Purana: didactic sacred narrative reinforcing the supremacy of Devī and the protection of cosmic order.
The cakra (wheel/discus) often signifies totality and dharma’s revolving order; it ‘cuts’ through grasping at power even before it manifests as action (weapon severed in-hand).
