देव्युवाच एवमेतद् बली शुम्भो निशुम्भश्चातिवीर्यवान् ।
किं करोमि प्रतिज्ञा मे यदनालोचिता पुरा ॥
devyuvāca evam etad balī śumbho niśumbhaś cātivīryavān | kiṃ karomi pratijñā me yadanālocitā purā ||
દેવીએ કહ્યું—હા, એમ જ છે; શુમ્ભ બળવાન છે અને નિશુમ્ભ અત્યંત પરાક્રમી છે. હું શું કરું? અગાઉ મેં વિચાર કર્યા વિના એક વ્રત-સંકલ્પ કરી લીધો હતો.
