Adhyaya 46 — The Continents
bhūr loko 'tha bhuvar lokaḥ svar lokaś ca vināśinaḥ | tathā vināśam āyānti maharlokaś ca tiṣṭhati ||
Even ‘heaven’ is impermanent; the verse steers seekers from merit-only goals toward enduring wisdom and liberation-oriented conduct.
Pratisarga/saṃhāra: it specifies which realms dissolve in the periodic pralaya and which persist.
The survival of Maharloka suggests a hierarchy of subtlety: grosser planes dissolve first; subtler states persist longer—mirroring meditation where gross thoughts subside before subtle awareness.
