चिन्तयामास सा बाला मां श्रुत्वा निधनं गतम् ।

तत्याज जीवितं साध्वी धिङ्मां निष्ठुरमानसम् ॥

cintayāmāsa sā bālā māṃ śrutvā nidhanaṃ gatam | tatyāja jīvitaṃ sādhvī dhiṅ māṃ niṣṭhura-mānasam ||

“એ યુવાન સ્ત્રીએ નિશ્ચિત વિચાર્યું હશે—‘મારા મૃત્યુનું સમાચાર સાંભળી તે પતિવ્રતા પ્રાણ ત્યજી ગઈ.’ ધિક્ મને—હું કેટલો ક્રૂરહૃદય છું!”
