Shloka 17
एवमेवेदमित्युक्त्वा धर्मात्मा स नरेश्वर: । शोकसागरमध्यस्थो दध्यौ कारणमाकुल:
evaṁ evेदam ity uktvā dharmātmā sa nareśvaraḥ | śokasāgaramadhyastho dadhyau kāraṇam ākulaḥ || dharmaputro mahābāhur vilalāpa suvistaram ||
વૈશંપાયન બોલ્યા— “હા, એવું જ થવાનું હતું—આ જ છે,” એમ કહી ધર્માત્મા નરેશ યુધિષ્ઠિર શોકસાગરના મધ્યમાં ઊભા હોય તેમ વ્યાકુળ થઈ કારણ પર વિચાર કરવા લાગ્યા. પછી મહાબાહુ ધર્મપુત્ર યુધિષ્ઠિર લાંબા સમય સુધી વિલાપ કરતો રહ્યો, જાણે આ આપત્તિના ગુપ્ત ધર્મકારણને શોધતો હોય।
