अतकिक्रान्तास्तु वेगेन जगामानुसूत: शनै: ततो5मरवरप्रख्यो भीमसेनो महाबल:
Vaiśampāyana uvāca: atikrāntās tu vegena jagāma anusūtaḥ śanaiḥ; tato ’maravaraprakhyo bhīmaseno mahābalaḥ.
વૈશંપાયન બોલ્યા: ભયથી સીમા વટાવી સર્પો મહાવેગે ભાગ્યા, અને મહાબલી ભીમસેન ધીમે ધીમે તેમનો પીછો કરતા રહ્યા. ત્યારબાદ દેવશ્રેષ્ઠ સમાન તેજસ્વી તે મહાબલી ભીમસેન આગળ જઈ એક વિશાળ અજગરને જોયો—દેખતાં જ રોમાંચ ઊભો થાય એવો—જે પર્વતના દુર્ગમ સ્થાને રહેતો અને પોતાના શરીરથી એક વિશાળ કંદરાને ઢાંકી રાખતો હતો.
