Kaurava Mobilization at Kurukṣetra (Duryodhana Orders War Preparations) / कुरुक्षेत्रे धार्तराष्ट्र-सैन्यसज्जा

पुरुषं तं॑ न पश्यामि य: सहेत महाव्रतम्‌ । धृष्टद्युम्नमृते राजन्निति मे धीयते मति:,“पितामह भीष्मके बाण आघात करनेमें अग्निके समान तेजस्वी एवं यमदूतोंके समान प्राणोंका हरण करनेवाले हैं। वज्की गड़गड़ाहटके समान गम्भीर शब्द करनेवाले उन बाणोंको पहले युद्धमें परशुरामजीने ही सहा था। राजन! मैं धृष्टद्युम्नके सिवा ऐसे किसी पुरुषको नहीं देखता, जो महान्‌ व्रतधारी भीष्मका वेग सह सके। मेरा तो यही निश्चय है

puruṣaṃ taṃ na paśyāmi yaḥ saheta mahāvratam | dhṛṣṭadyumnamṛte rājann iti me dhīyate matiḥ ||

વૈશંપાયન બોલ્યા—રાજન! મહાવ્રતધારી ભીષ્મના પ્રચંડ વેગને સહન કરી શકે એવો કોઈ પુરુષ મને દેખાતો નથી. ધૃષ્ટદ્યુમ્ન સિવાય બીજો કોઈ તેની શક્તિ સહન કરી શકે એમ હું માનતો નથી—આ જ મારી દૃઢ નિશ્ચય છે.
