अतः: पर प्रवक्ष्यामि यानि देयानि भारते । वाच्यमाने तु विप्रेभ्यो राजन् पर्वणि पर्वणि
ataḥ paraṁ pravakṣyāmi yāni deyāni bhārate | vācyamāne tu viprebhyo rājan parvaṇi parvaṇi ||
વૈશમ્પાયન બોલ્યા—“હવે આગળ હું ‘ભારત’ (મહાભારત)માં કયા દાન આપવા યોગ્ય છે તે વર્ણવીશ. રાજન, જ્યારે બ્રાહ્મણો માટે કથા વંચાઈ રહી હોય, ત્યારે દરેક પર્વમાં યોગ્ય દાન અર્પણ કરવું જોઈએ.”
