वृतं भूतगणैघोरि: क्रव्यादैश्व समन््ततः । यथा धन लिप्समानैर्भुत्यै्नुपतिसत्तमम्
vṛtaṃ bhūtagaṇair ghoraiḥ kravyādaiś ca samantataḥ | yathā dhana-lipsamānair bhṛtyair nṛpati-sattamam ||
સંજય બોલ્યો—તે ભયંકર ભૂતગણો અને માંસભક્ષી પ્રાણીઓથી ચારે બાજુથી ઘેરાઈ ગયો હતો. જેમ ધનલોભી ભૃત્યો શ્રેષ્ઠ રાજાને ઘેરી રહે છે, તેમ તેઓ તેને સર્વત્રથી ઘેરી રહ્યા હતા.
