देवा: सर्वे नरव्यात्र बृहस्पतिपुरोगमा:
devāḥ sarve naravyātra bṛhaspatipurogamāḥ
હે નરવ્યાઘ્ર! બૃહસ્પતિને અગ્રેસર રાખીને સર્વ દેવતાઓ ત્યાં એકત્ર થયા।
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse signals that major human events—especially those tied to war and dharma—are not merely political or personal; they are observed within a larger moral cosmos, with divine counsel (Bṛhaspati) representing discernment and right judgment.
The narrator (Vaiśampāyana) introduces a scene where all the gods assemble, led by Bṛhaspati, preparing the audience for consequential developments that carry cosmic and ethical significance.
