वासुदेवस्तु तं दृष्टया जगाम शिरसा क्षितिम् | पार्थेन सह धर्मात्मा गृणन् ब्रह्म सनातनम्
sañjaya uvāca | vāsudevas tu taṃ dṛṣṭvā jagāma śirasā kṣitim | pārthena saha dharmātmā gṛṇan brahma sanātanam ||
સંજય બોલ્યો—તેમને જોઈને વાસુદેવે તરત જ મસ્તકથી ધરતી સ્પર્શ કરી પ્રણામ કર્યો. પછી પાર્થ સાથે તે ધર્માત્માએ સનાતન બ્રહ્મસ્વરૂપ—શિવ—ની સ્તુતિ આરંભી.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights humility and devotion as integral to dharma: even the foremost heroes, in the midst of conflict, acknowledge a higher spiritual authority (the eternal Brahman, identified here with Śiva) and act with reverence rather than pride.
Sañjaya narrates that Kṛṣṇa (Vāsudeva), upon seeing the revered figure/deity, immediately prostrates by touching his head to the ground; then Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna together begin a hymn of praise to the eternal Brahman—understood in this context as Śiva.
