Adhyātma-Upadeśa
एतत् पदमनुद्धिग्नं वरिष्ठ धर्मलक्षणम् । उस विषयको यहाँ पूर्णतया सुनकर अच्छी प्रकार धारण करो। सब प्राणियोंकी अहिंसा ही सर्वोत्तम कर्तव्य है--ऐसा माना गया है। यह साधन उद्देगरहित
etad padam anuddhignaṁ variṣṭha-dharma-lakṣaṇam | yathārṇavaṁ mahāghoram aplavaḥ sampragāhate | bāhubhyām eva sammohād vardha vāñchaty asaṁśayam ||
વાયુએ કહ્યું—આ માર્ગ ઉદ્વેગરહિત, સર્વોત્તમ અને ધર્મનું પરમ લક્ષણ છે. આ વિષયને સંપૂર્ણ રીતે સાંભળી હૃદયમાં ધારણ કરો. સર્વ પ્રાણીઓ પ્રત્યે અહિંસાને પરમ ધર્મ માનવામાં આવી છે. જેમ કોઈ પુરુષ મોહવશ નાવ વિના જ અતિ ભયંકર મહાસમુદ્રમાં પ્રવેશ કરે અને માત્ર પોતાની ભુજાઓથી તરતાં પાર થવાની આશા રાખે—તો નિઃસંદેહ તે વિનાશને આમંત્રણ આપે છે; તેમ જ સત્ય જ્ઞાનરૂપ નાવનો આધાર લીધા વિના કોઈ પણ ભવસાગર પાર કરી શકતો નથી.
