Śulka, Kanyā, and Dauhitra-Riktha: Discourse on Bride-Price and Inheritance Rights (शुल्क-कन्या-दौहित्र-रिक्थविचारः)
एतत् श्र॒ुत्वा तु विपुलो विषण्णवदनो5भवत् | एवं तीव्रतपाश्चाहं कष्टश्षायं परिश्रम:
etat śrutvā tu vipulo viṣaṇṇavadano 'bhavat | evaṁ tīvratapaś cāhaṁ kaṣṭaśṣāyaṁ pariśramaḥ |
આ સાંભળીને વિપુલનું મુખ વિષાદથી ઢળી ગયું. તેણે વિચાર્યું—“હું તો એવી કઠોર તપશ્ચર્યા કરું છું, છતાં જો મારી દુર્ગતિ થવાની હોય, તો તપશ્ચર્યાનો આ ઘોર પરિશ્રમ તો માત્ર કષ્ટ જ સાબિત થયો.”
