भीष्म उवाच अष्टावक्रोडन्वपृच्छत्‌ तां रूपं विकुरुषे कथम्‌ | नचानृतं ते वक्तव्यं ब्रूहि ब्राह्मणगकाम्यया

Transliteration

bhīṣma uvāca: aṣṭāvakro ’nvapṛcchat tāṃ rūpaṃ vikuruṣe katham | na cānṛtaṃ te vaktavyaṃ brūhi brāhmaṇagakāmyayā ||

Translation

ભીષ્મે કહ્યું—રાજન! અષ્ટાવક્રે તે સ્ત્રીને પૂછ્યું—“તું વારંવાર પોતાનું રૂપ કેમ બદલે છે? અને જો તને મારા જેવા બ્રાહ્મણનો માન અને સ્વીકાર જોઈએ, તો અસત્ય ન બોલ; સત્ય કહો.”
