भीष्म उवाच जगत्प्रभुं देवदेवमनन्तं पुरुषोत्तमम्‌ । स्तुवन्‌ नामसहस्रेण पुरुष: सततोत्थित:,भीष्मजीने कहा--बेटा! स्थावर-जंगमरूप संसारके स्वामी, ब्रह्मादि देवोंके देव, देश- काल और वस्तुसे अपरिच्छिन्न, क्षर-अक्षरसे श्रेष्ठ पुरुषोत्तमका सहस्रनामोंके द्वारा निरन्तर तत्पर रहकर गुण-संकीर्तन करनेसे पुरुष सब दुःखोंसे पार हो जाता है

bhīṣma uvāca jagatprabhuṁ devadevam anantaṁ puruṣottamam | stuvan nāmasahasreṇa puruṣaḥ satatotthitaḥ |

ભીષ્મે કહ્યું—જે પુરુષ સદા જાગૃત અને સ્થિર રહી જગત્પ્રભુ, દેવોના દેવ, અનંત, પુરુષોત્તમ ભગવાનનું સહસ્રનામોથી નિરંતર સ્તવન કરે છે, તે સર્વ શોક-દુઃખને પાર કરે છે।
