भीष्म उवाच
This line is a colophon marking the close of a chapter situated in the Dāna-dharma section; it frames the teaching context as instruction on righteous giving (dāna) conveyed through the Śāṇḍilī–Sumanas dialogue.
Bhīṣma’s discourse (as the overarching speaker in this parva) reaches a chapter boundary: the text formally announces that the 123rd chapter of the Anuśāsana Parva—cast as the conversation between Śāṇḍilī and Sumanas—has concluded.
