Educational Q&A

The passage emphasizes how boons and ascetic power shape outcomes in the epic: extraordinary births and pivotal figures arise through rishi-tejas and destined arrangements, underscoring responsibility and the far-reaching consequences of granted favors.

Satyavatī, pleased after receiving an unsurpassed boon, unites with the sage Parāśara and immediately gives birth on a Yamunā river-island to the powerful child Vyāsa, who will become a central sage in the Mahābhārata’s unfolding lineage and events.
