बक-राक्षसस्य आह्वानम् तथा वृक्षयुद्धम्

अगमच्च वनोद्देशमल्पमूलफलोदकम्‌ | क्र्रपक्षिम॒गं घोरं सायाह्ले भरतर्षभ

agamac ca vanoddeśam alpamūlaphalodakam | krūrapakṣimṛgaṃ ghoraṃ sāyāhle bharatarṣabha ||

હે ભરતશ્રેષ્ઠ! સાંજ પડતા પડતા તેઓ વનના એવા ભયંકર પ્રદેશમાં પહોંચી ગયા જ્યાં મૂળ-ફળ અને પાણી બહુ ઓછું હતું, અને જ્યાં ક્રૂર સ્વભાવના પક્ષીઓ તથા હિંસક પશુઓ વસતા હતા.
