एवं तस्या व्रतस्थाया व्रतच्छिद्रं हरिर्नृप । प्रेप्सु: पर्यचरज्जिह्मो मृगहेव मृगाकृति: ॥ ५८ ॥
evaṁ tasyā vrata-sthāyā vrata-cchidraṁ harir nṛpa prepsuḥ paryacaraj jihmo mṛga-heva mṛgākṛtiḥ
હે નૃપ પરિક્ષિત! જેમ હરણનો શિકારી હરણચામડી ઓઢીને હરણ જેવો બની જાય છે, તેમ દિતીપુત્રોનો આંતરિક શત્રુ ઇન્દ્ર બહારથી મિત્ર બની દિતીની ખૂબ જ કાળજીપૂર્વક સેવા કરતો રહ્યો. વ્રતમાં કોઈ છિદ્ર મળતાં જ તેને ભંગ કરવા તે ઇચ્છતો હતો, તેથી અજાણ રહેવા માટે અત્યંત સાવધ રહ્યો.
