આ અથર્વવેદીય મંત્ર ઘરનાં નાજુક ધનને—ખાસ કરીને ગાયો-ઢોર અને જીત/લાભ—દૂર સુધી વ્યાપતી રક્ષાત્મક શક્તિથી બાંધી સમૃદ્ધિ સુરક્ષિત કરે છે. તે ‘છાણી ને છાંટે’ એવી રીતે ભાગ્યને પ્રસારે તેવી શુભ અપ્સરાનું અને મધ્યાકાશમાં તથા સૂર્યકિરણોની દિશામાં ગતિ કરતું વાજિન-સદૃશ રક્ષક બળનું આહ્વાન કરે છે, જેથી ઇચ્છિત લાભો ઘેર આવી જાય અને ત્યાં જ અચળ રીતે સ્થિર રહે.

वाजिनीवान् ऋषभः। उ॒द्भि॒न्द॒तीं सं॒जय॑न्तीमप्स॒रां सा॑धुदे॒विनी॑म्। ग्लहे॑ कृ॒तानि॑ कृण्वा॒नाम॑प्स॒रां तामि॒ह हु॑वे

આક્રમણમાં વિજયી વૃષભ: જે અપ્સરા—સાધુદેવિની, શુભ દેવી—ભેદી નીકળે છે અને મનુષ્યોને જીતાડે છે; જે જુગારમાં ‘કૃત’ (બનાવેલી) સફળતાઓ રચતી રહે છે—તે અપ્સરાને હું અહીં આવાહન કરું છું.

वि॒चि॒न्व॒तीमा॑कि॒रन्ती॑मप्स॒रां सा॑धुदे॒विनी॑म्। ग्लहे॑ कृ॒तानि॑ गृह्णा॒नाम॑प्स॒रां तामि॒ह हु॑वे

જે અપ્સરા—સાધુદેવિની, શુભ દેવી—છાંટે છે અને વિખેરે છે; જે જુગારમાં ‘કૃત’ (બનાવેલી) સફળતાઓ ઉઠાવી લે છે—તે અપ્સરાને હું અહીં આવાહન કરું છું.

यायैः॑ परि॒नृत्य॑त्या॒ददा॑ना कृ॒तं ग्लहा॑त्। सा नः॑ कृ॒तानि॑ सीष॒ती प्र॒हामा॑प्नोतु मा॒यया॑ । सा नः॒ पय॑स्व॒त्यैतु॒ मा नो॑ जैषुरि॒दं धन॑म्

જેની માયા-કળાઓથી તે ચારે તરફ નૃત્ય કરે છે અને દાવમાંથી ‘કૃત’ (બનાવેલી/સાધેલી) સફળતા ખેંચી લઈ જાય છે—તે જ દેવી અમારી ‘કૃત’ સિદ્ધિઓને શોધતી, માયાથી ઇનામ (પ્રહામ) જીતે. દૂધ-સમૃદ્ધ (પયસ્વતી) બની તે અમારી પાસે આવે; આ ધન વિષે તેઓ અમને જીતે નહિ.

या अ॒क्षेषु॑ प्र॒मोद॑न्ते॒ शुचं॒ क्रोधं॑ च॒ बिभ्र॑ती । आ॒न॒न्दिनीं॑ प्रमो॒दिनी॑मप्स॒रां तामि॒ह हु॑वे

જે અક્ષોમાં (પાસાંમાં) આનંદ કરે છે, અને શોક તથા ક્રોધને પણ ધારણ કરે છે—આનંદ આપનારી, પ્રમોદ આપનારી એવી અપ્સરાને હું અહીં આવાહન કરું છું.

सूर्य॑स्य र॒श्मीननु॒ याः स॒ञ्चर॑न्ति॒ मरी॑चीर्वा॒ या अ॑नुस॒ञ्चर॑न्ति । यासा॑मृष॒भो दू॑र॒तो वा॒जिनी॑वान्त्स॒द्यः सर्वाँन् लो॒कान् प॒र्यैति॒ रक्ष॑न्। स न॒ ऐतु॒ होम॑मि॒मं जु॑षा॒णो॒३ऽन्तरि॑क्षेण स॒ह वा॒जिनी॑वान्

સૂર્યના રશ્મિઓને અનુસરી જેવો સંચરે છે, અથવા તેની મરીચિઓ (કિરણ-ઝળહળ) સાથે અનુસંચરે છે—જેનાં ઋષભ (વૃષભ), દૂરથી જ વિજયી, વાજિનીવાન્ (વિજય-શક્તિવાન) બની, તત્કાળ સર્વ લોકોને પરિભ્રમણ કરી રક્ષણ કરે છે—એ વાજિનીવાન્ અંતરિક્ષના માર્ગ સાથે, આ હોમ (હવન)ને સ્વીકારી, અમારી પાસે આવે.

अ॒न्तरि॑क्षेन स॒ह वा॑जिनीवन् क॒र्कीं व॒त्सामि॒ह र॑क्ष वाजिन्। इ॒मे ते॑ स्तो॒का ब॑हु॒ला एह्य॒र्वाङि॒यं ते॑ क॒र्कीह ते॒ मनो॑ऽस्तु

અંતરિક્ષની સહાયથી, હે વાજિનીવન્ (બળવાન અને ઝડપી), અહીં કાર્કી ગાયની રક્ષા કર; અહીં વાછરડાની રક્ષા કર, હે વાજિન્. આ તારા બિંદુઓ છે—ઘણા અને પ્રચુર; તું અહીં તરફ આવ. આ કાર્કી તારી જ છે—અહીં તેનું મન સ્થિર રહે.

અંતરિક્ષની સહાયથી, હે વાજિનીવન્, અહીં કાર્કી ગાયની રક્ષા કર; અહીં વાછરડાની રક્ષા કર, હે વાજિન્. આ છે ચારો, આ છે વાડો/વ્રજ; અહીં અમે વાછરડાને મજબૂતીથી બાંધી દઈએ છીએ, જેથી નિશ્ચયે અમે તમારાં પર અધિકાર મેળવી શકીએ—સ્વાહા!
