Sukta 3
एषा त्वचां पुरुषे सं बभूवानग्नाः सर्वे पशवो ये अन्ये। क्षत्रेणात्मानं परि धापयाथोऽमोतं वासो मुखमोदनस्य
eṣā́ tvacā́ṃ púruṣe sám babhūvān agnā́ḥ sárve paśávo yé anyé | kṣatréṇātmā́naṃ pári dhāpayātho ’mótaṃ vā́so múkham odanásya ||
This hath become the skins’ protection in the man; O Fires, and all the beasts that are beside. With kingly might do ye enwrap the self around—unharmed: the garment is the foremost part of cooked food.
હે અગ્નિઓ! પુરુષમાં આ (વસ્ત્ર) ચામડાં/ત્વચાઓનું રક્ષણ બની ગયું છે; અને જે અન્ય સર્વ પશુઓ છે (તેમના માટે પણ). ક્ષત્રબળથી તમે આત્માને સર્વ તરફથી આવરી દો—અહિતરહિત રાખો; (કારણ કે) વસ્ત્ર પક્વ અન્ન (ઓદન)નું મુખ્ય, અગ્ર ભાગ છે.
