Chapter 122 — Kāla-gaṇana (Computation of Time)
અગ્નિ સૂર્યગતિ પર આધારિત સુવ્યવસ્થિત કાળ-ગણના (સમાગણ) અને ચૈત્રથી શરૂ થતા ચંદ્રમાસોના ક્રમનું તકનીકી વર્ણન કરે છે. સંખ્યાશબ્દ/સંકેતો અને સ્થાનક્રિયાઓથી નિયમબદ્ધ ગણિત કરીને વાર, તિથિ, નાડી/ઘટિકા, નક્ષત્ર, યોગ અને કરણ જેવા પંચાંગ-અંગો કાઢવાની પદ્ધતિ આપવામાં આવી છે. બાદબાકી, 60થી ગુણાકાર, ભાગફલ-શેષ, ઋણ/‘દેવું’ મૂલ્યોનું સંચાલન, માસવાર સુધારાઓ, તથા કેટલીક રાશિઓથી ઉલટી ગણતરી જેવા વિશેષ નિયમો પણ છે. અશૌચ અથવા પ્રક્રિયા-ભેદથી થયેલી ત્રુટિ માટે ગણિતીય તફાવતના પ્રમાણમાં પ્રાયશ્ચિત્ત-હોમાદિ પ્રતિપૂર્તિ અર્પણનું વિધાન છે. અંતે સૂર્ય-ચંદ્રમાન સમ કરીને યોગ સ્થિર કરવો અને પ્રતિપદાએ કિંતુઘ્ન સહિત કરણ-નિર્ણયના નિયમો આપી, યોગ્ય સમયે કર્મ, સામાજિક વ્યવસ્થા અને બ્રહ્માંડિય ધર્મ સાથે સંવાદ સાધતી ધર્મ-તકનીક તરીકે કાળગણનાને સ્થાપે છે।
