Sage Parāśara (narrating) to Maitreya
Speaker: Parasara
Topic: Manvantaras: identification of the Seven Ṛṣis (Saptarṣis) of that Manvantara and their progeny
Teaching: Historical
Quality: authoritative
Creation Stage: Manvantara
Bhakti Type: Shanta
This verse lists the Seven Seers for a Manvantara, presenting them as stabilizing custodians of cosmic order whose lineages continue dharma through their descendants.
By naming the Saptarṣis and then promising to describe their sons, Parāśara frames dharma as preserved through teacher-lineages that persist across Manvantara transitions.
Even when not named in the verse, the Manvantara framework presumes Vishnu as the supreme regulator of time and order, under whose ordinance the Saptarṣis function as agents of cosmic governance.
