तस्मिन्संगमसलिले नरः स्नात्वा समाहितः । संतर्प्य पितृदेवांश्च दत्त्वा दानं स्वशक्तितः
tasminsaṃgamasalile naraḥ snātvā samāhitaḥ | saṃtarpya pitṛdevāṃśca dattvā dānaṃ svaśaktitaḥ
Après s’être baigné dans les eaux de ce confluent, l’esprit recueilli, l’homme doit contenter les ancêtres et les dieux, puis faire l’aumône selon ses moyens.

Scene: A pilgrim at a river confluence at dawn, hands joined, then offering tarpaṇa with water-streams, followed by giving alms to a brāhmaṇa or needy person on the ghat.
Tīrtha practice is complete when inner composure (samādhāna) is joined with gratitude to ancestors and gods, and with ethical generosity.
