एतस्मिन्नेव काले तु उत्पातास्तत्र दारुणाः । अपसव्यं मृगाश्चक्रुः पशवः पक्षिणश्च ये । तान्दृष्ट्वा चिन्तयामास मुद्गलो विस्मयान्वितः
etasminneva kāle tu utpātāstatra dāruṇāḥ | apasavyaṃ mṛgāścakruḥ paśavaḥ pakṣiṇaśca ye | tāndṛṣṭvā cintayāmāsa mudgalo vismayānvitaḥ
À cet instant même, de terribles présages s’élevèrent en ce lieu : bêtes, troupeaux et oiseaux se mirent à se mouvoir de façon néfaste, vers la gauche (apasavya). Voyant ces signes, Mudgala réfléchit, saisi d’émerveillement.
