ततो मंकणकं प्राह पश्य विप्र करान्मम । शुभ्रं भस्म विनिष्क्रांतं पश्य मे द्विज कौतुकम्
tato maṃkaṇakaṃ prāha paśya vipra karānmama | śubhraṃ bhasma viniṣkrāṃtaṃ paśya me dvija kautukam
Alors il dit à Maṃkaṇa : «Regarde, ô brāhmane—vois de ma main : une cendre d’un blanc éclatant en est sortie. Contemple, ô deux-fois-né, ce prodige qui est mien.»
