Skanda Purana — Mahesvara Khanda, Shloka 17

तथा किं बहुनोक्तेन सर्वेऽपि स्थिरजंगमाः । प्राणिनोऽपि हि जायंते केवलं लिंगधारिणः

tathā kiṃ bahunoktena sarve'pi sthirajaṃgamāḥ | prāṇino'pi hi jāyaṃte kevalaṃ liṃgadhāriṇaḥ

Et à quoi bon en dire davantage ? Tous les êtres, immobiles ou mobiles—toute créature vivante—naissent seulement comme porteurs du liṅga, signe de la puissance génératrice et de l’identité.
