ऊषरे वापितं बीजं भिन्नभांडे च गोदुहम् । भस्मनीव हुतं हव्यं मूर्खे दानमशाश्वतम्
ūṣare vāpitaṃ bījaṃ bhinnabhāṃḍe ca goduham | bhasmanīva hutaṃ havyaṃ mūrkhe dānamaśāśvatam
Telle une semence jetée sur une terre stérile, tel le lait versé dans un vase brisé, telle l’oblation (havis) offerte aux cendres, ainsi est l’aumône donnée au sot : elle ne porte aucun fruit durable.
