Lomaharṣaṇa (Sūta) to the sages (deduced from Māheśvarakhaṇḍa context)
Type: temple
Scene: At the temple threshold the devotee chants a sequence of seed-syllable invocations; the skyward gesture for Kuladevī is shown; then inside the sanctum, the devotee stands to the right of the liṅga, turns north, sits in a steady posture, and meditates as lamps flicker.
Approaching Śiva begins with honoring guardians, teachers, and attendant deities, cultivating humility and ritual purity.
No single site is specified; the verse gives a generally applicable shrine-entry liturgy within the Skanda Purana’s Shaiva framework.
Recite salutatory mantras to Gaṇapati, Kṣetrapāla, gurus, Kuladevī, Nandin, Mahākāla, Dhātṛ and Vidhātṛ; then enter, stand slightly to the right of the liṅga, face north, and meditate briefly with steady posture.
